Our verdict
Status
This promise has been achieved. In August 2021, the Scottish Government announced that it would be increasing four-weekly Best Start Foods payments from £17 to £18 – or £4.50 per week – for pregnant recipients and those with children aged between one and three. Those with children under one also received an increase from £34 to £36.

The SNP also promised to extend Best Start eligibility to all recipients of Universal Credit.
