Our verdict
Status
This pledge is in progress. In July 2021, the Scottish Government announced that via the Area Based Scheme (ABS) it would distribute £64m to local authorities, an increase of £9m over the previous year, to “deliver energy efficient measures to fuel poor households and communities”. They state that this represents part of a £1.6bn package of measures directed at heat and energy efficiency over five years.

Other pledges
The SNP also promised to decarbonise the heating of one million homes by 2030 and make all new social and council housing zero emission by 2026.
