Our verdict
Status
This promise has been achieved. The Scottish Government brought previously planned firework regulations into force in June 2021. The same month, they opened a public consultation on proposed legislation to further tighten laws around the use of fireworks and pyrotechnics. Consultation analysis was published in December 2021 and the Fireworks and Pyrotechnic Articles (Scotland) Bill was published in February 2022. Although it has not yet passed into law, the pledge is considered fulfilled because the SNP promised to “bring forward” the legislation, which it has achieved.
