Ban the manufacture and supply of most single-use plastics

SNP Manifesto 2021, p.130We will take action to ban single-use plastic cutlery (forks, knives, spoons, stirrers and chopsticks), plates, straws, balloon sticks, food and beverage containers and cups for beverages. These are some of the most environmentally damaging single-use plastics and, bearing in mind equalities interests for exemptions, we will end their supply and manufacture in Scotland...
Our verdict
Status
This promise has been achieved. In November 2021, the Scottish Government announced a regulatory ban on all of these items, to take effect on the 1st of June 2022. The pledge is considered fulfilled before this date since the regulatory change comprises the “action” promised.
