Our verdict
Background
The Carer’s Allowance Supplement is an extra payment made twice annually to Scots in receipt of the UK Government’s weekly Carer’s Allowance benefit. The SNP pledged to make a double payment of the December 2021 supplement.
Status
The Scottish Government announced their plans to enact this pledge and published the Carer’s Allowance Supplement (Scotland) Bill containing the relevant provisions in June 2021. The Bill was introduced in June 2021 and passed by the Scottish Parliament in October 2021. The B the December 2021 payment from £231.40 to £462.80.

Other pledges
The SNP promised to replace promised to maintain the main Carer’s Allowance payment with a new benefit called Carer’s Assistance. They also pledged to maintain Carer’s Allowance Supplement until this has been enacted.
